Capela de Santa Catarina & Gull (Larus michahellis)
The historic Capela de Santa Catarina stands in Funchal's Santa Catarina Park, showcasing traditional Madeiran architecture with white stucco and distinct red basalt stone masonry. A Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis atlantis), the resident subspecies of the archipelago, is perched atop the gable cross overlooking the paved courtyard.
